Yangi-Kala
Yangi-Kala are canyons in the mountains of Turkmenistan located 165 km north of Balkanabad and 160 km east of Turkmenbashi. They are considered one of the most beautiful natural sites in Turkmenistan, and their translation from the Turkmen language means "fire fortresses."
The sheer cliffs of canyons of various colors (white, yellow, ocher, purple, and red), which were carved by winds and rain, resemble stone castles from some fantasy film. They are especially beautiful at sunset when everything around them turns fiery red.
The canyons of Yangi-Kala were the bottom of the ancient sea, but today their bottom looks like a natural park of sculptures made from compressed, crumbling soil. Although you can climb onto multi-colored hills, it is impossible to grasp the protrusions with your hand.
Yangi-Kala is great for camping and overnight stays in tents, as well as for Jeep Safari. Despite being frequented by tourists, canyons are rarely found on a standard tour program. Therefore, it is better to agree in advance on his visit with the tour operator.
